What are extruded serrated finned tubes?

Extruded serrated finned tubes are produced by first manufacturing extruded finned tubes and then processing the fins into a serrated pattern. This manufacturing method begins by tightly winding a thin metal sheet around a base tube and extruding it under high pressure to create extruded finned tubes, ensuring a strong bond between the fin and tube, thus enhancing heat transfer efficiency. Subsequently, additional processing is done on the fins, such as machining serrated grooves on them to increase their surface area, further improving heat transfer performance, resulting in extruded serrated finned tubes.

The extrusion process involves forcing a metal, typically aluminum or copper, through a specially designed die. The die creates the desired serrated pattern on the surface of the base tube. This process ensures a strong bond between the fin and the base tube, resulting in a durable and efficient heat transfer surface.

The serrated pattern on the fins of these tubes serves to increase the surface area, which enhances heat transfer efficiency. The serrations create turbulence in the fluid flow, promoting better heat transfer between the fluid inside the tube and the surrounding environment. This makes extruded serrated finned tubes suitable for applications that require high heat transfer rates.
