What is internally rifled boiler tube?

Internally rifled boiler tubes are used in thermal power plant boilers to evaporate water into steam. They are more efficient due to their internally rifled shape. Because the boiling crisis occurs later, there is more heat transfer between the pipe and the fluid inside the pipe. This type of tube is generally more expensive than plain tubes. Current research into these tubes is being conducted due to their potential to improve power plant efficiency.

Rifled tube is steel with spiral ribs on the inner surface which are produced by cold drawing process. Lead angle of the ribs (spiral angle) P is 30 degrees to the tube axis plane. By irregularities and spiral effect of inner surface, it is possible to prevent the film boiling when the water in the boiler to boil. And it prevent overheating.

Internally rifled boiler tube standard material

Low-carbon steel, Low-alloy steel

ASTM A192, ASME SA192, ASTM A209, ASME SA210 and ASME SA213 specifications and all associated grades.

Tubes can be supplied against equivalent specifications like EN 10216, DN 17175, BS 3059, JIS 3461 ,JIS 3462.

Internally rifled boiler tube processable size

The details of the size will be determined by meeting.

Internally rifled boiler tubes usage

Boiler tubes for power generation and energy industry (Subcritical pressure boiler , Supercritical pressure boiler, etc)

Internally rifled boiler tubes advantages

Higher heat transfer rate at higher steam quality levels.

Better heat transfer at lower mass flux levels.

Reduction in the mean metal temperature of the tube walls.

Ability to increase the heat transfer by optimizing rifle geometry.
