Description
Products Description

Stainless Steel Grade 410 Round Tubing exhibits lower corrosion resistance compared to austenitic stainless steel grades. However, martensitic grades like SS 410 Seamless Tubes are preferred in applications where superior hardness is essential. The SA-268 TP 410 material possesses magnetic properties that are retained even after annealing or heat treatment. Therefore, ASTM A268 TP 410 is suitable for applications requiring magnetism. In continuous service, SA 268 410 SS Tubing can withstand oxidation up to 1292°F, while A 268 TP 410 Welded Tubes can be used in intermittent service up to 1500°F. In summary, the key features of 410 Stainless Steel Tubing include high tensile strength, low fracture resistance, and low ductility.

What is ASTM A268 TP410 Tubing?

ASTM A268 TP410 tubing is a standard specification for seamless and welded ferritic and martensitic stainless steel tubing for general corrosion-resisting and high-temperature service. TP410 is the material grade specified in this standard. This steel with 12% chromium content has a deep hardening ability, which means it can form hard martensite at relatively slow cooling rates of 20°C/minute. However, these hard and brittle martensites require rapid tempering at high temperatures to improve impact properties. A higher nickel content can lead to a better combination of properties. The steel is not highly resistant to aerated seawater and welding is limited due to the risk of hardzone cracking, requiring high preheat and immediate post-weld tempering. Compared to austenitic steels, Type 410 has lower corrosion resistance, but can withstand mild acids, alkalies, fresh water, and atmospheric conditions. It is also the most economical of the stainless steels, containing only enough to provide stainless properties.

ASTM A268 TP410 is a standard specification for seamless and welded ferritic and martensitic stainless steel tubing for general corrosion-resisting and high-temperature service. TP410 specifically refers to the grade of stainless steel, which is Type 410.

Type 410 stainless steel is a basic martensitic grade which contains a moderate amount of chromium, making it suitable for applications requiring moderate corrosion resistance and high mechanical properties. It is often used in applications such as oil and gas processing, power generation, chemical processing, and various industrial applications where high strength and moderate corrosion resistance are required.

The ASTM A268 TP410 tubing is commonly used in industries where high-temperature and corrosive environments are present, such as in steam generators, heat exchangers, boilers, and superheaters. The tubing can be either seamless or welded, and it comes in various sizes and thicknesses to suit different application requirements.
